Adam is the man you will normally deal with on the end of the phone or keyboard! He has been diving for 24 years, and been teaching diving for nearly 20! During that time, he has amassed over 4000 dives! Adam is originally from South Africa -although he has been resident in the UK for over 10 years. After leaving Africa, he travelled the world, teaching diving and diving in most of the worlds diving meccas!
As well as teaching PADI recreational courses, Adam is very involved in teaching and performing technical courses and dives. Although shallow, Capernwray is the ideal venue for skill development at all levels (when used in conjunction with deep water sites for experience dives), and as such, you will often see Adam straining under the load of lots of cylinders! Adam's first trimix dives were in 1988-before "technical" diving was invented!
When he isn't at work, Adam tends to be diving! His own personal dives tend to be deeper wreck dives around the UK, and scenic dives at home and abroad. He is also an Underwater Photographer, some of his work can be seen at http://www.adamhanlon.com
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
EFR Instructor
Specialities taught: Boat Diver, Drift Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Multilevel Diver, Night Diver, PPB, Underwater Navigator, Underwater Photographer, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Search and Recovery Diver
David is by far the most versatile of all of us. He qualified as a PADI Instructor in September 1990, which makes him one of the most experienced PADI Instructors in the country. He has forgotten more about diving than most of us will know!
David is also a jack of all trades, he runs the gear hire and also works in Breathe Easy, servicing and maintaining the equipment.
David typically runs several really popular trips away every year-to the South Coast or Scotland. He has dived at many diverse location, at home and abroad, and can advise you about suitable equipment and techniques for just about any dive site on earth!
Guido Quelina

Specialities taught: Boat Diver, DPV Diver, Drift Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Multilevel Diver, Night Diver, PPB, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigator, Underwater Photographer, Underwater Videographer, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Search and Recovery Diver
Guido started diving in 1998, initially with the local BSAC branch, before crossing over to PADI in 2000. A native European (he alternates between Italian and French to confuse us!), he has a vast amount of experience teaching and diving in many diverse environments.
Guido enjoys all types of diving and his friendly and unique style make him very popular with all our students.
Alf Yates
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
EFR Instructor
Alf is one of our staunch part-timers, having been diving pretty much continuously since he trained in 1999. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the quarry-if you need to know how to get from one object to another-he's your man!
Alf has clocked up over 800 dives since he began, and really enjoys teaching divers, and leading them on dives. He has also dived in some dream locations, Scapa Flow and the West Coast of Ireland among them!
Tracey Ingham
PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
EFR Instructor
Tracey is another of our great part time crew! Tracey has been diving for about three years, and has managed to notch up some great diving here and abroad. Her patient and persistent approach mean that she is great at giving divers the support
and encouragement they need to excel in their
courses.
Tracey is involved in training activities at all levels, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask her!
David Kneale
PADI Assistant Instructor
.
David has been diving for about 2 years and has managed to pack in a lot of training and diving into that time. He has dived extensively here, but also has dived in Malta, The Red Sea, UK South Coast and off Northern Ireland.
Apart from being an excellent role model as a diver, he also drives (in my humble opinion) the nicest car of any of us! Andy Hoyle will now disagree though!
PADI Divemaster
Roger has been diving here at Capernwray for many years, and with Alf has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Quarry. He has been involved at all levels of training, so is another great source for information.
The Team
In addition to the people above, we are fortunate in having an all star cast of thousands who give up their time to be involved in our Dive School. All of these guys and girls are involved in Divemaster training, and they are all a great boon to the dive school and will happily help to give you the best experience possible on your course.
